Lyncat Tria

Your first space

A space is a folder Tria sorts. Inside it, Tria keeps its rules, an inbox for what comes in, a folder for duplicates and a log of everything it moves.

Pick the folder

It can be an empty folder or the one you already use for your paperwork. If it already has a TRIA.md, Tria uses those rules and doesn’t ask you for a template. To add another space later, use “Add a Space…” (⇧⌘N).

Tria only goes into the folders you choose and the documents you give it. Removing a space from Tria, from the space picker, only takes it off the list: the folder isn’t touched.

Create the rules

For a folder without a TRIA.md, you choose:

  • The template: Freelancer, Company or Home. Each one comes with its own folders and names; you’ll find them in Templates.
  • The language of the folders: Spanish or Catalan.

“Create Rules” puts TRIA.md, PERFIL.md, the inbox (99-Pendiente), the duplicates folder (98-Duplicados) and the template’s folders in the folder.

Next, “Who You Are” asks for the bare minimum so Tria knows who owns the archive: your name and your tax ID (NIF), or a member of the household. That’s how it tells the invoices you issue from the ones you receive. You can leave it for later; PERFIL.md explains it.

Adding documents

  • Drag them onto the window: they’re moved, or copied if you hold ⌥.
  • Drop them on the Dock icon or use “Open With › Tria” in the Finder.
  • Save them straight to the inbox folder, from any app.
  • With an iPhone or iPad signed in to the same account nearby, scan a paper document: File › “Import from iPhone or iPad”.
  • From Shortcuts, with the “Sort with Tria” action (see Shortcuts and Siri).

Folders aren’t accepted. A document whose name is already in the inbox comes in as “invoice (2).pdf”.

Reading and filing

Once you’ve given permission, Tria reads whatever lands in the inbox on its own; you can also click “Read with Tria”. In the Inbox (⌘2) you’ll see three groups:

GroupWhat’s in it
UnreadWhat Tria hasn’t read yet.
Need your decisionDoubts, anything that can’t be read, duplicates and proposals with medium or low confidence.
Ready to fileWhat Tria is sure about: high confidence.

Each row shows the name it arrived with, the new name, the folder, the confidence and the reason. To change something, “Edit…”: another folder, another name, and “File”. “File All N” files all the ready documents you’ve checked in one go, and ↩︎ files the selected one.

If a document is already in the archive and is identical byte for byte, Tria marks it as a duplicate without reading it with the AI. You choose: “Move to Trash”, “Move to Duplicates” or “File Anyway”, which puts it next to the original with “ (2)”.

To see what would be sent for a document before it’s read, right-click it and choose “See What’s Sent…”.

Undo

In the History (⌘3), each batch shows where every document came from and where it went. “Undo” sends one back, and “Undo Batch…” sends them all. From a folder, “Undo and Return to Inbox”. The document goes back to the inbox with its original name.

Getting around the app

⌘1 Archive, ⌘2 Inbox, ⌘3 History, ⌘4 Rules and ⌘5 Usage. Search finds documents by their new name and by the name they arrived with.
