Templates

Tria comes with three templates so you don’t start from scratch: Freelancer, Company and Home. Each one creates a TRIA.md with its folders, its names and its special cases, and a PERFIL.md with the details it needs.

The templates are in Spanish and Catalan, so the folder and file names on this page are in Spanish, just as Tria creates them. In the app you choose the language under “Folder language”; in the CLI, with --lang es or --lang ca.

What they have in common

  • The inbox is 99-Pendiente and duplicates go to 98-Duplicados.
  • Tria can create subfolders inside existing ones, like the year or the quarter, but not new top-level folders.
  • Dates are written YYYY-MM-DD, or YYYY-MM if only the month is given. Names have no accents or special characters and keep the original extension.
  • If the date, the issuer or the document type can’t be made out, the document stays pending.

Freelancer

Invoices issued and received by quarter, taxes, Social Security, banks, contracts, insurance and certificates. An invoice counts as issued if the issuer is the profile’s owner; otherwise, it’s received.

5-BancosBanco Ejemplo - Extracto - 2025-01-31.pdf

The template is rounded off by 6-Contratos y Clientes, 7-Seguros, 8-Certificados and 9-Administracion, for the city council, the traffic authority (DGT), utilities and other notices.

Company (SL or SME)

For a limited company (SL), with 17 top-level folders: tax forms, with a subfolder per form; contracts; minutes and corporate documents; banks; direct debits; proposals and quotes; invoices; payroll; certificates; notices from the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT); other public bodies; partners’ documents; employees; office; data protection; projects and clients; and internal management.

3-Actas y Documentos Societarios/Actas de JuntaActa Junta General - 2025-06-30.pdf
8-NominasNominas - 2025-04.pdf

Among its special cases: Form 202 goes with Form 200, PDFs with all the invoices of a quarter go to 7-Facturas/Libros Trimestrales, and a partner’s personal documents go to 12-Documentos Socios, in the folder with their name exactly as it appears in the profile.

Home

Eleven folders for the household: home, health, vehicles, banks, taxes, work, education, insurance, warranties and purchases, utilities, and paperwork.

3-VehiculosCoche - ITV - 2025-05-20.pdf
8-SegurosSeguro Hogar Aseguradora Sur - 2025.pdf
5-ImpuestosRenta - 2024.pdf

Property tax (IBI) goes with taxes, not with the home; traffic fines go with the vehicle; and the vehicle is named with its short name from the profile, like “Coche”.

Creating a space from a template

In the app, when you create the space, you choose the template and the language and click “Create Rules”. In the CLI:

bash
tria init --template sl --lang ca# Company (SL or SME), in Catalan

A template is a starting point: change it with Ask Tria or by hand in TRIA.md.

Learning from your folder

If your documents are already organized your way, the CLI proposes a TRIA.md based on how you have them. It looks at the folders up to four levels deep, reads the beginning of about 20 documents spread across them and shows you the draft before saving it. Before reading anything, it tells you how much it will cost.

bash
tria init --learn# in a folder without TRIA.mdtria rules learn# in an existing space: leaves TRIA.draft.md

Learning from the folder is CLI-only, and it doesn’t create PERFIL.md. To add one later without touching your rules, run tria init --template with the kind that fits you.
