Lyncat Tria

Getting started

In a few minutes: you save your key, create the rules in the folder you want to sort, and Tria proposes a name and a folder for whatever you drop in the inbox.

No key yet? Your API key explains how to get one.

1. Save your key

bash
tria config --provider anthropic --set-key# or --provider openai

Tria asks you to paste the key, without showing it, and saves it in the Keychain. If you prefer an environment variable, ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or OPENAI_API_KEY work too.

2. Create the space

Go into the folder you want to sort and create the rules from a template:

bash
cd ~/Documents/Businesstria init --template autonomo --lang es# or sl, hogar; --lang ca for Catalan

Tria asks for the owner’s name and tax ID (NIF), or a household member. Press Return to leave it blank and fill it in later in PERFIL.md. When it’s done, the folder has:

  • TRIA.md, the rules, and PERFIL.md, the profile;
  • the inbox, 99-Pendiente, and the duplicates folder, 98-Duplicados;
  • the template’s folders.

The templates are in Spanish and Catalan: autonomo is for freelancers, sl for companies and hogar for the home. Without --template, tria init asks which template you want. If the folder already has content, it first offers to learn the rules from how you’ve organized it: Templates explains how. If there’s already a TRIA.md, it leaves it alone: it only creates the inbox and the duplicates folder if they’re missing.

3. Drop documents in the inbox

Copy or move them to 99-Pendiente, with the Finder or from the terminal:

bash
cp ~/Desktop/*.pdf 99-Pendiente/tria status# what's in the inbox, without calling the AI

Subfolders of the inbox aren’t processed, and anything still being copied waits until next time.

4. Sort

bash
tria sort

Tria reads each document and opens a full-screen review, with the folder, the name, the confidence and the reason for each one. What it’s sure about comes already checked: move with the arrow keys, check or uncheck with Space, edit with e and apply with Return. Press q to quit without moving anything. All the details are in tria sort.

When it’s done, Tria tells you how many documents it moved and what reading them cost.

5. If something’s not right

bash
tria log# the batches, with their numberstria undo --last# sends the last batch back to the inbox

Each document goes back to the inbox with its original name. If you’ve moved or changed it since, Tria skips it and tells you, so it doesn’t overwrite anything.

From any folder

Like git, tria looks for TRIA.md in the current folder and the ones above it, so it works from any subfolder of the space. To sort another space without going into it, use --root:

bash
tria sort --root ~/Documents/Home
