Lyncat Tria

Install with Homebrew

The tria CLI installs with Homebrew. It’s free, open source (Apache-2.0) and works with your own Anthropic or OpenAI key.

You need macOS 14 or later. The CLI doesn’t use Tria AI: it always reads with your key.

Install

bash
brew install startcat/tap/triatria --version# its version and “A Start.cat product”

If tria --version answers, you’re done. To see every command, tria --help; for help on one, tria help sort or tria sort --help.

Update and uninstall

bash
brew upgrade triabrew uninstall tria

Uninstalling the CLI doesn’t touch your spaces: TRIA.md, PERFIL.md, the log and the cache live in each space’s folder. It doesn’t delete your key either. If you want to remove it, do that first with tria config --delete-key.

Where it keeps everything

WhatWhere
Your keyIn the macOS Keychain, or in ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or OPENAI_API_KEY
The provider and the modelIn ~/.config/tria/config.toml, without the key
The rules and the profileIn TRIA.md and PERFIL.md, at the root of the space
The log, the cache and the suggestionsIn the space’s .tria folder

If you have XDG_CONFIG_HOME set, the configuration goes in tria/config.toml inside that folder.

The app and the CLI, together

The CLI and the app use the same engine and read the same folder, so you can switch between them whenever you like: what you sort in the terminal shows up in the app’s History, and vice versa. If the folder already has a TRIA.md, the app uses those rules.

While one is sorting a space, the other waits: Tria doesn’t let two processes sort it at the same time. If you try, the CLI tells you another process is sorting that space and to try again when it finishes.

Anything already read, from the app or the CLI, comes from the cache at no extra cost, as long as TRIA.md and PERFIL.md haven’t changed.

In your language

The CLI’s messages and help come out in Catalan, Spanish or English, depending on your Mac’s language. To pick another one, use the TRIA_LANG variable:

bash
TRIA_LANG=ca tria status# in Catalan

Next step

Save your key and sort for the first time: it’s all in Getting started.
